Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide through our authentication provider, Clerk. We do not have access to your password.

Skills & Progress Data

When you use Skill Map, we store the skills you target, skills you have achieved, and any personal best records you enter. This data is stored in our database and associated with your account.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Skill Map Premium, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment credentials. We do store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your account tier.

Usage Information

We may collect basic usage data such as pages visited and features used to improve the service. We do not sell this data.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the Skill Map service
To manage your account and subscription tier (free or premium)
To process payments through Stripe
To save and display your skills progress
To respond to support requests
To improve the site based on usage patterns

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate Skill Map. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and skills records are permanently deleted within 30 days. Stripe may retain billing records independently per their own data retention policies.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure authentication via Clerk. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers in raw form.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Opt-out of sale: We do not sell your personal data.

Skill Map is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Skill Map after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
